In your opinion which is more effective at earning new customers paid search or paid socials? Also, is it possible that a good ad campaign can create buyers for a mediocre product? Or is product always king?

1. There are exceptions, but paid social is king for acquisition and it’s not close. Every brand I’ve taken from $0 to something, usually had search launch after month two or three of 100% paid social.

There are opposites of me who are so gifted at search that they may have a good case, and I’d buy in, but it’s so freakin’ rare.

2. Product is king, but I view it more as a spectrum: a great marketer will sell more, faster, than a mediocre one on any given offer/product. Unless it has literally no demand, they’ll figure it out with time working through the 5 levels, I’ve seen it.

Can also see a pattern of big marketers starting brands in “competitive niches” that backs this conceptually.

What happens when you drop off one of these hitmen with multi-niche experience in a category with already proven PMF/TAM, supply chain, full creative/financial control, and second-mover advantage(s)?
